What Will Happen If the College Board Doesn't Get Hosting Hosting Contracted?As part of the competition to win the right to host the NCAA Final Four, the University of North Carolina is bringing in a new host committee for the June 2020 chemistry and calculus Regents exams. It is being reported that several faculty members at the University of North Carolina have met with the administration to inform them that the Regents exam will not be allowed to be taught by the Teaching Company, a private company which was awarded the hosting contract by the college. This is believed to be due to its non-uniform examinations and the teaching materials that were used in the April chemistry regents.It is thought that this is because of the University Administration's fears of students being able to learn all the material at once and later use the tests to create their own portfolios to use in college and the university. Another reason is the complexity of the math Regents exams and the fact that t hey can easily be made to resemble the official exams. This is believed to be due to a lack of time or planning, rather a lack of desire to move forward with a new program.However, this does not mean that the University Administration has accepted the decision. They still stand firm on their choice and are asking the regents' committee to hold off on the exams and wait until they can offer the same level of testing materials as the University of Chicago has. There are also rumors that this decision was made to avoid using a teaching company with too many employees to handle the increased load of college applications and registrants.One of the arguments against using the Teaching Company is the fact that the Computer Science Department does not use their material, rather they have used the University of Chicago's materials as a way to assist in the development of students' knowledge base. The Computer Science Department believes that this decision is just another move to make the Uni versity a more attractive place to visit for students and does not actually increase the competition in hosting. In other words, they believe it will ultimately make the testing materials easier to get and more likely for people to be able to take them.Unfortunately, this is no better than the testing materials that the College Board produces as a way to test the metacognition of students. In addition, there is a growing concern in the Chemistry Department that the Teaching Company might have an agenda to destroy the traditional format of exams. They believe that the teaching materials in the June 2020 chemistry and calculus Regents exams will be more challenging and less fun than the Traditional exam.In light of this, the College Board is reportedly preparing for a lawsuit if the University Council decides to allow the Teaching Company to host the Regents exam. However, the University Administration has stated that they would rather lose the test than allow the Teaching Company to host it. The question is what will they do if the College Board does not opt out of the exams.The test is scheduled to be administered on September 20th, the late June. A number of students have started to plan to get the Regents tests ahead of time to lessen the confusion and delays that come with the High School schedule. However, one student in particular has warned that they will test their metacognition skills by letting the professors know about the tests beforehand.
